This particular Sherman Tank is painted up in the livery of General Creighton W. Abrams' WWII M4A3E8 which was the tank he commanded in WWII. The West Point Military Academy has a page with a couple of photos of this tank being lifted onto it's pedestal via a large crane.

Stars & Stripes has an interesting article about Abrams commanding the 4th Armored Division's drive to free Bastogne on December 26, 1944 in his Sherman Tank Thunderbolt VII.
