If you look closely at this German WWII Sturmgeschutz Stug III Assault Gun's shell holes you will see that there is not a whole lot of fire damage apparent. There is not a lot of rust either so I think some of the burn damage was carefully applied during a restoration in the past (it is very well done). Also as you look at the blast damage on the barrel and frontal armor the rust has been removed and the area treated. I suspect this example of a German Panzer was brought over to Canada intact and used as a test target to gauge the effectiveness of its armor from various ranges and angles.
