Land Rover Rallies

When I first started planning the layout of this website it was simply to be a means of getting my Land Rover Rally photos going back to the late 1980s to the present online for folks to see instead of hiding away in my photo albums. I never imagined how much it would grow from there, and how it would completely change the direction of my career path from software testing to web design. I hope you enjoy these pages.

The rally galleries should give you a good feel for what the club scene is like. The thing that struck me about the Rover meets was the sense of community and how much folks help each other out. I've been to other British car meets and noticed how some owners tend to criticize and nit pick each other's vehicles apart. At a LR meet if it runs it's great, and if not, folks pitch in with parts and wrenches to get it running. Series Rover owners for the most part are great people. I knew nothing of LR maintenance when I bought my first Series III in 1988.

As with any twenty year old vehicle it had its share of problems. With no official presence in the United States at that time for parts I and other Series vehicle owners had to seek out the then two mail order parts suppliers in the north east. Their staffs provided invaluable help, and even more importantly held rallies that allowed me to meet others with the same addiction. These folks have been so generous with their help and guidance. I could never have been able to get my vehicles on the road and keep them there without the help of other club members I've met over the years. You can learn a lot from a manual, but folks with practical knowledge can really help you out of a jam, especially when it's not something well covered in book form. I hope you enjoy these pages. I've gotten a lot of satisfaction and fun from putting them together and getting the pages online.
