Bar island is a small island off of Mt. Desert Island. You can reach it by foot 2 hours before and after low tide. A trail runs up to the summit where you get a high level view of Bar Harbor. One house is on the island and the owner can only get on and off durring that 4 hour low tide window. The naturalist Jack Perkins is the sole resident.
