I took these additional shots of the Kaiten on a subsequent visit to the New Jersey Naval Museum. In doing some additional research I learned that the Kaiten's pilot entered the sub from the mother submarine via a hatch in the bottom of the hull. Although it is a bit corroded you can see the details of the entrance hatch in the first 3 photos. The hatch appears to be hinged towards the rear and may open upwards although I'm not entirely certain. In the center is a square socket used for opening or securing the hatch from the outside. I also added some better shots of the propeller assembly.
