Richard Sterling was a 2nd Lt. in the 8th Air Force serving as a B-24 Liberator Bombardier in the European Theater during WWII. His son is a close friend of the daughter of my Uncle Bob Swan who served as a B-17 Navigator during the same period. Dick Sterling served in 1943, training at Wendover Utah, and then in 1944 at Halesworth in East Anglia. He was in the 489th Bombardment group.
