This day turned out to be the best for shooting this bird. When I first saw him I just happened to be upwind and a fair distance away. I got my camera gear out and let the wind slowly take the boat and positioned myself and froze there. The cormorants are usually pretty shy but I drifted in so slowly that although he was very aware of me he didn't leave the dock. It wasn't til I passed the dock and lowered my camera that he took to flight.
