55 IFF Destructor Switch

The IFF is the Identify Friend or Foe transmitter. It transmitts a radio signal on a frequency that allows allied vessels and aircraft to identify that the the submarine is a friend as opposed to an enemy vessel. The IFF Destructor Switch triggers an explosive charge that destroys the Identify Friend or Foe transmitter to prevent it from falling into enemy hands in the event of grounding or capture.
