31 USS Maine 6

31 USS Maine 6" 30 cal Deck Gun

This deck gun comes from the Battleship USS Maine which was sunk in Havana Harbor in 1898, most likely by a coal bunker explosion. Also on the museum grounds is a spare propeller from the USS Maine. Two other parts of the USS Maine that I know of are the ship's mast, located at the Arlington National Cemetary, the foremast is on the grounds of the US Naval Academy at Annapolis, and a ventilation funnel located in Pompton Lakes, NJ that I drive past almost every weekday. For a more complete list of USS Maine aritifacts in the US and Cuba visit Patrick McSherry's Main Parts page.
