08 MGM-51 Shillelagh Missile Infared Transmitter Housing

08 MGM-51 Shillelagh Missile Infared Transmitter Housing

Thanks to Mark A. Holloway of Beatty NV for setting me straight on the description of this housing:

"This box housed an infrared transmitter. The Shillelagh Missile was not wire guided. You can see a couple wires in the photo. This was for the "LS-5" switch. It prevented the firing of a missile with the door closed. There were two IR lamps in it. One sent signaled for elevation (vertical) and the other for deflection (horizontal)."
