19 General Mac Arthur Sketch By Mariam Martens
In 1943 Mariam Martens from Concordia Missouri was employed at North American Aviation in Kansas City Missouri when General Douglas Mac Arthur visited the plant which was producing B-25 Mitchell Bombers. Ms. Martens asked Mac Arthur if she could do a free hand drawing of him and he agreed. The General signed the drawing when she finished and the portrait hung over the plant's entrance for the remainder of the war.
