This transfer tube runs from the deck down into the galley. You can see one of the dining tables with it's checkerboard pattern at the bottom. In the floor of the galley is another hatch leading to storage containers for additional 3 inch rounds. Rounds would be passed from the galley up this tube to the deck for loading on the deck guns.
