11FixedGunMount

11FixedGunMount

This item was a puzzle, even to the muesum staff. It is a fixed gun mount, with a German Mauser rifle clamped in place. The fit of this weapon in the mount is very good as though it was made for a rifle. My first thought would be a mount like this was better suited to a light machine gun, and after doing a little research, it looks like the German Madsen 8mm light maching gun would be a good fit in the mount. The mount can be rotated horizontally to any position and clamped in place with the clamp just to the right of the German Helmet. Verticle alignment is set with a locking pin that can be placed in a variety of holes to change the elevation in very small increments.
