The lower control rod connecting to the longer verticle rod I believe to be the throttle linkage. The control rod above that appears to be linked to the black round object below the magneto (the lighter round object with the numbered wires coming out of it) which may be a timing advance control. I'm not sure of the purpose of the large aluminum gearbox at the rear of the engine block. It may control the interrupter gear for the machine gun/prop synchronization.
